Psyche is a digital zine about the Body and Mind published at ArtCenter. Psyche provides a safe space for the community to share their thoughts on the relationships they have with their bodies, anonymous or otherwise. Everyone is welcome.
During the ideation phase, we thought about the most effective ways to increase public engagement and encourage involvement the concept of body image and self-perception. We decided to go with Instagram - the social media platform that is not only a means to make space for discussion, but is also the core factor that contributes to the topics of body image and mental health.
With Linktree, we embedded links to Google Form surveys with questions that provoke self-reflection. Submissions in writing and art started pouring in. We have created a safe space for people to talk about their bodies.
The next challenge was curating and editing the zine to present our participants' inner thoughts and feelings in the most authentic, genuine way possible. We went with a graphical route submissions are exhibited in direct quotes and images, crediting the authors with names or secret codes for those who wished to remain anonymous. Psyche was published after 5 weeks.
